Who are we looking for?
FOSSA is actively looking for a Satellite Operations Engineer to join the Operations department, contributing to the day-to-day operations of FOSSA Systems satellite fleet. This person will be responsible for monitoring, commanding and maintaining the satellite fleet, and for building the software tools that keep those operations reliable and scalable.
We are searching for individuals who know how to work in dynamic, young and agile teams.
You will be able to participate in the different steps of the development cycle for our internal hardware and software developments in ground, space and user segments.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of real time, mission critical software solutions for satellite operations.
- Performing day-to-day operations of the FOSSA satellite fleet.
- Development of internal tools and automation for telemetry monitoring, command scheduling and anomaly alerting.
- Data analysis of satellite telemetry to assess fleet health and performance.
- Test execution and validation of ground and space segment software and hardware.
- Generate project documentation (reports, test campaigns, etc.).
Profile
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
- Proficiency in software development, particularly in Python or similar languages.
- Solid background in LINUX environments.
- Basic understanding of telecommunications concepts related to space and IoT (Polarization, Doppler, Link Budgets, etc.).
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Data driven mindset with experience in problem solving and data analysis.
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills within a technical team.
Preferably
- MSc in Space, Telecom Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
- Familiarity with the space environment and its challenges.
- Familiarity with satellite and IoT communication protocols such as CSP, MQTT, LoRaWAN, and NTN N- IoT.
- Experience in mission design.
- Contributions to open-source space-oriented software projects.
- Hands-on technical experience through a rocketry team, CubeSat project, equivalent engineering club or academic project.
- Proactive approach to engineering and problem solving in high demand and critical scenarios.
- Hands on experience operating spacecraft or remote systems.
