Who we are looking for
FOSSA Systems is seeking a Director of APAC Market Development to lead our business development, strategic partnerships, and market expansion in the Japanese and APAC defence, space, telecom and IoT ecosystem.
This role is responsible for establishing and growing FOSSA's presence in Japan, driving commercial adoption of our satellite solutions and acting as the key representative of the company in the region.
Responsibilities
- Execute FOSSA’s commercial strategy for Japan and APAC.
- Develop and manage relationships with partners, government agencies, defense stakeholders, and industrial IoT customers.
- Represent FOSSA in industry events, conferences, and institutional meetings in Japan and APAC (SPEXA, SpaceTide, DESEI)
- Build and manage a pipeline of commercial opportunities across key verticals (logistics, energy, maritime, agriculture, defense).
- Support regulatory, licensing, and market-entry processes in coordination with headquarters.
- Establish local presence strategy (partners, distributors and office setup).
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to commercial strategy.
- Respond to Head of Sales and Executive Management
Profile
- Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in telecom, satellite, IoT, defense, or deep-tech sales/business development.
- Proven track record of building B2B or institutional business in Japan or APAC markets.
- Strong network within Japanese telecom, defence, or government ecosystems.
- High level of autonomy and ability to build a market from early stage.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English and Japanese (native or professional proficiency required).
- Strong understanding of complex technical products and ability to translate them into commercial value.
- Willingness to travel frequently to Spain and within Asia.
Preferably
- Experience in satellite communications, defence, or IoT connectivity solutions.
- Previous roles in scaling international technology companies into Japan.
- Familiarity with Japanese regulatory frameworks for telecom or space-related services.
- Background in dual-use / defense / critical infrastructure technologies.
- Experience working with startups or high-growth scaleups.
- Technical understanding of RF systems, embedded devices, or network architectures.
